Are there any design ideas that you love?
I’ve always wanted to create my own floor-to-ceiling vertical garden with live plants, but with the amount of travel that I do, I could never keep them alive!
How do you create a space that nurtures you at home and work? What inspires you?
Since I’m in the home décor niche, it’s important for me to create a space that looks good for the photos but feels good as well. In my early Instagram days, I only purchased products and created looks that would capture well on camera but wasn’t practical in real life. It was almost like living in a dollhouse! Now, I prioritize function as well as form. If I’m not going to use it on a daily basis, it’s not worth the space.
Small space design hack:
People often think that you shouldn’t add too many things to small spaces because it’ll look crowded. The optical hack here is that you should add furniture and decorations to small spaces because it creates the illusion of a larger space. Get a rectangular rug to frame the seating area and install shelves to draw the eyes upwards.
How do you balance as an entrepreneur?
I’m still trying to figure this one out because without an actual office to go to or a boss to keep me in check, things can get disorganized pretty fast. My main issue right now isn’t that I’m not getting things done, but that I’m working from sun up to sun down with few breaks in between. I need to be stricter on setting a healthy work schedule for myself.
What is an instrumental piece of advice you've received in life?
The best piece of advice I’ve received was from reading a book called, “Boundaries.” I learned to not put my worth in external validations.
Shopping hack:
I have the same shopping philosophy when it comes to fashion and home décor: invest in timeless key pieces even if it might cost a pretty penny and then decorate with cheaper items. That way, you can keep changing up your looks around the expensive key pieces without emptying your entire wallet.
