Energize Your Routine: Super Powered Wellness Tips

Author Claire Grieve

Most of my clients lead high stress lives, they are extremely driven and are constantly on-the-go. By the time many of them come to me, they are completely exhausted. Once we begin our work together, my clients begin to learn that they don’t need anything outside of themselves to create natural energy (no, not even coffee). What I’ve found in my many years of teaching high performers is that there are several techniques that can be used to create natural energy from the inside out. I’ve found breathing techniques, yoga flows, eating habits and self care tools that help people begin to live truly vibrant, and happy, lives. I’ve outlined some basic guidelines as well as some of my favorite energizing recipes below. Here are my top five ways to energize naturally.

1. Sleep

Getting a good night’s sleep is essential for maintaining your energy levels. Shoot for 8-9 hours a night. It might sound difficult, but you may truly be amazed by how much more energized you feel if you regularly get sufficient sleep. To get a more restful night’s sleep, try to avoid caffeine and alcohol, turn off all technology about an hour before bed and take some time to wind down with a warm bath or some hot tea and a book. I’ve also found that doing a few restorative yoga poses right before bed help to put me in a state of deep relaxation.

2. Move

Take some time to move every day. If you have time to get into a yoga class or even practice in your bedroom every day, great! If not, even just a brisk walk around the block or a series of five sun salutations can get the blood and oxygen flowing through your body, giving you a boost of natural energy.

3. Self-Care

Taking time each day to disconnect from work, technology and anything else that is stressful is an extremely important step to maintaining a vibrant energy. Self-care can be different for everybody. It could mean a massage or a manicure or even a long hot shower. What matters most is that you are able to recharge your batteries while you’re doing it. When you reconnect you should feel fully rejuvenated.

Meditate & Breathe

Meditation is one of the most wonderful practices for creating natural energy from the inside out. Research has shown that even brief meditation reduces fatigue. Even if you don’t meditate, the simple act of taking deep breaths helps to deliver fresh oxygen throughout your whole body.
