The city of Constanța is located directly on the Black Sea shore in Romania. This town and the places it encompasses provide a plethora of enjoyable activities. There is plenty to do, whether you choose to go sightseeing or just unwind on the beach under an umbrella chair, reading a book or watching the waves. At the end of the busy season, the beaches are a little more laid back, but in the summer they are packed with activities and things to do, such as bistros, jump houses, and volleyball.
Tomis Port, a smaller port in Constanța, is dotted with eateries and lined with boats of all sizes. With all the lights along the port, it’s stunning both during the day and at night. In the summertime, you can find a Ferris wheel, which will take you up high enough to overlook the sea. Some of the boats are used for tours, where you are able to explore the Black Sea up close.
There are several places to hang out, have a picnic, and just relax on Mamaia Beach. You can spend the day playing at the Aqua Magic water park or take a ride on one of the cable cars, overlooking the view of the beaches of Mamaia. Luna Park, which has a number of kid-friendly rides, is located there as well.
One of my favorite destinations in Constanța is Old Town. The town square, cobblestone streets, and many historical buildings can be found in this quaint area of the town. Whether you are just walking through or sitting down at one of the many cafés, you will see all that Old Town offers, along with its beauty. Sometimes I’ll go there to enjoy some ice cream, sit down, and people watch.
You can also take a drive to Brașov to see the Transylvania regions of Romania, tucked up in the Carpathian Mountains. With a breathtaking view of the town, you can take the Tampa Cable Car up the side of the mountain, walking past the big Brașov sign. The historic square is full of shops, cafés, and sometimes outdoor markets. There are a few additional towns nearby that provide other views of the mountains: Bran, Râșnov, Sibiu, and Sighișoara.
