Slow Travel
Altea is located about one hour’s drive north of Alicante on the Costa Blanca coastline. It can easily be considered one of the most beautiful cities on the coast. Altea has kept its local charm, making it seem less stressful and less touristy compared to many other cities in the area.

The Old City
The heart of Altea, the old city, is a must-see. It is a piece of art in itself, and you should get lost in the narrow streets and visit small stores, art galleries, and pottery workshops. Have some lunch, dinner, or ice cream from many of the tempting options. Some of the restaurants also have romantic roof terraces or outdoor seating with candlelight!

The church with the blue domes that sits on top is a definitive stop. Its design is very typical for Costa Blanca and can be seen from miles away. From here, you can also enjoy some great views of the surrounding area.
When you are done with the old town, walk down the stairs to the brand-new beach boardwalk with its palm trees and curated palm trees. Here you will find a beach and an even greater selection of bars and restaurants.

The Beaches
Altea has six kilometers of beaches. Walking along the coastline between the beaches offers some beautiful surroundings and is recommended. The most well-known one, Roda Beach, has received the EU’s blue flag for its clean and crystal-clear water. Many of them are pebble beaches, so don’t forget your beach shoes.
Altea is not so much about doing a lot of things as it is about soaking up the Spanish atmosphere, lowering your shoulders, and relaxing. Whether you are exploring the charming old city, enjoying the scenic views from the church, or unwinding on the beautiful beaches, Altea offers a perfect blend of tranquility and beauty.
