ESSENTIALS for a NURTURING SPACE
Plants! Greenery and nature help us feel relaxed and comfortable. Plus, plant parenthood gives you a fun responsibility to care for your space. Don’t just follow trends because you feel like you have to. If you love something, find a way to incorporate it! Textures are the elements that help us feel at home, and you can never have too many. For example, a rattan plant basket, a chunky cable-knit throw and a shaggy rug can be very inviting when combined.
POUF IT UP!
I love using a pouf in many different ways! It is awesome having a piece so versatile. You can sit on it, use it as a footstool, put a tray on it and so many other things. Poufs really come in handy living in a rental, because space is limited but extra seating is always needed. I also love hanging a curtain above vertical blinds to hide them (I don’t know; these became a thing).
One rule I always follow is grouping items in odd numbers, especially groups of three. I also always make sure to pair pieces that aren’t the same height to add visual interest and depth to the space.
