Best Decorating Advice

You do you, boo. We are so wrapped up in creating a space that other people will love or with what’s “trending.” Yet you’re the one that has to live in it. So my best advice is to create your space with what you love and what makes you happy.

Life Motto

Be a voice, not an echo.

Design Ideas

I Love I love walls filled from floor to ceiling with art, exposed beams and vintage pieces mixed with modern. I’m a collector at heart, so I tend to gravitate toward a collected home.

Best Piece of Advice I’ve Received

Don’t worry about what everybody else is doing. Worry about what you’re doing. Something I find myself saying to my kids often.

Fun Design Hacks

+ I have used Ikea spice racks to hold my handbags and clutches in my walk-in closet, and an herb planter to hold our coloring pens and pencils.

+ Also, I like to paint small details on my furniture. I’ve painted a herringbone pattern on the side of a dresser, a scallop border on my TV unit and triangles on the side of my son’s cabinet. You can also use decals if you’re nervous about ruining your furniture.

+ And my favorite tip of all is to use washi tape on the back of your frames and shelves to mark out where your drill holes should be when installing shelves.

DIY Tips

Buy cheap planters and a can of spray paint and paint them yourself. I’ve DIYed a lot of my indoor planters with some spray paint and a paintbrush. Also, you don’t need expensive frames to create a gallery wall. I use a lot of cheap certificate frames when I’m styling a picture rail.
